In Meerut, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, met with PVVNL MD Isha Dukhan to discuss farmers' issues at the Udyog Bhawan. Tikait has made a significant statement regarding the Kolkata doctor rape and murder incident, suggesting that the situation is being used to tarnish the reputation of the state governments.

He accused that there has been a propaganda campaign for the past 10 days, and if such incidents occur in BJP-ruled states, there is little reaction. He pointed out that there was no accountability for the violence in Manipur and claimed that the motive behind highlighting such incidents is to destabilize the government and impose President’s Rule.

Tikait also addressed incidents involving Dalit women in Amroha and Bijnor, questioning why similar actions are not taken there. He emphasized that there are laws against rape and murder in the country and insisted that the nation should be governed by the Constitution. Referencing the situation in government overthrow in Bangladesh, he warned that similar conditions could arise in India. He criticized the ruling government for imprisoning opposition leaders in Bangladesh and suggested that if 2.5 million farmers had marched to Parliament, significant changes could have occurred.

Tikait opposed the installation of meters on tube wells by the electricity department, stating that farmers would remove the meters if installed. He urged that the meters be respectfully returned to the electricity office and criticized the government's claim of providing free electricity while imposing meters on farmers. He warned that if farmers are further provoked, it would lead to a major agitation.
