The Noida police have arrested the accused responsible for hacking the official X handle of the District Magistrate (DM) of Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The Sector-20 police station apprehended the suspect, identified as Sohan Singh, from Burari, Delhi. The accused had posted a controversial comment against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after hacking the DM's account, which went viral as a screenshot. Following this, the DM filed a complaint.

The controversy arose when a social media post trolling Congress leader Supriya Shrinate was made from the DM's official X handle. The post sparked debate over political bias within the bureaucracy. Supriya Shrinate had shared a clip of her conversation with historian Ashok Pandey, where she remarked, "History is made, and it cannot be altered. Narendra Modi knows how history will remember him, and that’s why he’s concerned." In response, an objectionable comment was posted from the DM's handle, which was seen as a jibe at Rahul Gandhi.

Outraged by the comment, Shrinate said, "This is the DM of Noida, responsible for the entire district. Their language and thoughts about the leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi, must be reviewed. It's clear that the administrative machinery is filled with biased individuals, spreading hatred from constitutional positions." Congress leader Pawan Khera also raised concerns about the politicization of civil services, asking if IAS officers are now being instructed to make political remarks under BJP rule.

Amid the uproar, the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar issued a clarification, stating that the post was not made by him and that his handle had been misused. The statement read, "An anti-social element has misused the DM’s ID and posted an inappropriate comment. Taking this seriously, an FIR has been filed, and legal action is being taken. The Cyber Cell is investigating the wrong tweet/comment."
