PM Awas Yojana 2.0 Survey Begins in Chhattisgarh: Deputy CM Arun Sao Shares Key Updates
The survey for PM Awas Yojana 2.0 (Urban) has commenced in Chhattisgarh, aiming to provide permanent housing to urban families who missed out during the first phase. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw, who also serves as the Minister for Urban Administration and Development, announced significant progress under the scheme and outlined the state's ongoing efforts to achieve housing for all.
Rapid Progress Since December 2023
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chhattisgarh has witnessed a significant acceleration in the implementation of the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) since the formation of the new government in December 2023. In just 11 months, from December 2023 to October 2024, the state has completed the construction of 49,834 houses for urban beneficiaries.
- Self-Built Houses: Beneficiaries constructed 44,419 houses on their own land.
- Affordable Housing Projects: 5,415 houses were built under affordable housing partnerships.
Improved Execution and Regular Monitoring
Deputy CM Arun Saw highlighted the enhanced pace of physical and financial progress over the past year. Monthly reviews of construction work in urban bodies and agencies have ensured timely completion, bringing hope to thousands of families.
- Increased Completion Rate: On average, 4,002 houses were completed monthly by beneficiaries on their land, compared to an average of 1,592 houses per month from 2018 to 2023.
- Affordable Housing Allocation: 7,348 families received homes, and 5,855 beneficiaries have been settled in completed housing units under affordable housing projects.
Launch of PM Awas Yojana 2.0 Survey
The state has initiated a survey for the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, focusing on providing housing to urban families left out in the earlier phase. The scheme features a simplified application process:
- Online Applications: Beneficiaries can register their applications on the Government of India’s official portal.
- Helpdesks in Urban Bodies: All 189 notified urban bodies in the state are equipped with helpdesks to assist in the application process.
Current Status of PM Awas Yojana in Chhattisgarh
As part of the scheme, a total of 2,49,166 houses have been approved across urban areas in Chhattisgarh:
- Self-Built Houses: 2,11,069 houses to be constructed on beneficiaries' land.
- Affordable Housing Projects: 38,097 houses under affordable housing schemes.
To date:
- 1,96,967 houses have been completed, including:
- 1,74,967 self-built houses.
- 21,600 houses under affordable housing projects.
- 48,346 houses are currently under construction, with efforts underway to expedite their completion.

Deputy CM Arun Saw reiterated the state’s commitment to realizing the dreams of urban poor families for permanent housing. He emphasized that with regular monitoring, simplified application procedures, and robust partnerships, the state aims to meet its housing targets swiftly.
