Muzaffarpur Pune Special Train engine derails, know more
A major train accident was narrowly averted in Bihar when the engine of a special train derailed at Muzaffarpur Junction, causing chaos late at night. The engine was supposed to be attached to the 05289 Muzaffarpur-Pune Special Train, but it derailed during shunting operations. Fortunately, there were no injuries or damage reported.
According to reports, the train was scheduled to depart from platform number 4 of Muzaffarpur Junction on Saturday night. As the locomotive was being maneuvered to be attached to the train, it derailed. The incident occurred due to negligence on the part of the driver, according to initial reports. The derailment caused a stir among railway officials, who rushed to the scene along with engineers to assess the situation.
The rescue operation to put the engine back on the tracks began immediately. The Pune-bound special train eventually departed with the help of another engine, albeit delayed by over an hour. The derailment also affected the Sitamarhi-Anand Vihar Special train and disrupted the movement of one or two freight trains, causing inconvenience to passengers waiting at the station.
This incident is not an isolated one, as a similar derailment occurred recently near Narayanpur station, where a goods train derailed during shunting operations, causing disruption on the up and down tracks. Although there were no casualties, the incident had a significant impact on train schedules, leading to rerouting of several trains.
In the midst of the government's focus on high-speed trains, these recurring accidents highlight ongoing safety concerns in India's railway network. The recent derailment of the Pune Special Express at Muzaffarpur Junction adds to this growing list of accidents, prompting calls for further investigations and improvements in railway safety measures.
