India's Home Ministry has granted permission to prosecute former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in a money laundering case linked to the land-for-job scam. This approval is based on the final charge sheet submitted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). There are over 30 additional accused individuals for whom prosecution sanctions are still pending, and the CBI has requested an extra 15 days to secure these approvals.

Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has urged the CBI to expedite the sanction process for the other accused. The case is scheduled for further hearing on October 15.

In the land-for-job money laundering case, the court recently issued summons to key figures, including Lalu Prasad Yadav and his sons, Tejaswi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav. Notably, this is the first time Tej Pratap Yadav has been called in connection with the case. The court indicated that his involvement could not be dismissed, despite not being initially charge-sheeted, as he was a director at AK Infosys Ltd.

Special CBI Judge Vishal Gogne summoned Lalu Prasad Yadav, his sons, and six others, directing them to appear on October 7. Other charge-sheeted individuals, including Akhileshwar Singh and his wife, Kiran Devi, have also been summoned. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a supplementary charge sheet on August 6, naming 11 accused, four of whom have since died.

The court clarified that while Akhileshwar Singh was included as an accused by the ED, his wife Kiran Devi was not initially charged. However, she is implicated in the case for selling land to Misa Bharti in exchange for a job for her son, Abhishek. The court has determined there is sufficient evidence to proceed against the accused.

Additionally, the Delhi High Court granted regular bail to businessman Amit Katyal on medical grounds. The CBI had filed for prosecution against Lalu Prasad Yadav in the 'Land for Jobs' case, which alleges irregularities during his tenure as Railway Minister, accusing him of unlawfully offering jobs in return for land.

The CBI continues to await prosecution sanctions for over 30 other individuals involved in the case and is expected to update the court on the status of these pending sanctions during the next hearing on October 15.
