Raj Thackeray's convoy blocked, vehement protests staged, watch

In Maharashtra's Beed district, MNS chief Raj Thackeray faced protests from Shiv Sena (UBT) activists who blocked his convoy and threw betel nuts and tomatoes at it. The Shiv Sena (UBT) workers shouted slogans demanding that Thackeray, who is currently on a tour of Maharashtra, leave and questioning whom he is taking "supari" (a term for a contract or bribe) from for the upcoming Assembly elections.

According to PTI, four Shiv Sena (UBT) supporters were arrested on Friday afternoon after allegedly throwing betel nuts at Thackeray's convoy in Beed city. Thackeray, a cousin of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, was touring the central Maharashtra region. A police officer stated, "Some Shiv Sena (UBT) supporters attempted to block the road and threw betel nuts as Thackeray’s convoy was heading towards a hotel. A case is being filed against them."

Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders accused Thackeray of taking bribes to counter Uddhav Thackeray's party's influence. Thackeray's tour in Marathwada has faced resistance, with Maratha protesters becoming aggressive over his remarks on reservations.

According to some media outlets, Thackeray expressed regret over the incident to Additional Superintendent of Police Sachin Pandkar and Deputy Superintendent of Police Vishwambar Golde at a hotel, questioning why there was no prior intelligence about the situation. He also instructed the officials to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.

Meanwhile, MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande warned Shiv Sena (UBT), stating, "After the Shiv Sena (UBT) agitation, MNS has now adopted an aggressive stance. You started this, and now we will end it."
