Delhi Police Impounds Bike, Files Case After Alleged Misconduct by "AAP MLA's Son" During Patrol

Delhi Police

New Delhi: Delhi Police impounded a motorcycle and registered a case after two individuals, including one who claimed to be the son of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, allegedly misbehaved with officers during a routine patrol in the Okhla area.

The incident, which occurred ahead of Republic Day, highlighted issues of privilege and accountability.

The Incident

According to police reports, the two youths were riding a motorcycle equipped with a modified silencer, producing loud noises, and driving erratically in a zigzag manner on the wrong side of the road.

When police stopped them, one of the boys identified himself as the son of Amanatullah Khan and accused the officers of targeting him due to his father’s political position. The youths refused to provide identification or a driving license, claiming they didn’t need to comply.

One of them called Amanatullah Khan, who reportedly spoke to the Station House Officer (SHO). However, the boys left the scene without disclosing their names or addresses.

Police Action

The police impounded the motorcycle and issued a challan under multiple violations of the Motor Vehicles Act, including the use of a modified silencer and reckless driving. A fine of approximately ₹20,000 was imposed. The motorcycle was taken to the police station, and a formal case has been registered.

Statement from Delhi Police

The police said, “During routine patrolling, two boys were spotted riding a bullet on the wrong side, creating loud noise with its modified silencer, and driving in a zigzag manner. When stopped, one of them claimed to be the son of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan and accused the officers of bias. They refused to provide identification and called the MLA to intervene. Despite this, the bike was impounded, and necessary action was taken.”
