On Sunday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at the residences of two Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) officials and a well-known contractor in Madhya Pradesh’s Singrauli district. During the operation, the CBI seized approximately ₹4 crore in unaccounted cash and recovered incriminating documents suggesting substantial corruption related to machine and spare parts supplies at the Singrauli-based public sector coal company.

Several individuals have been detained in Singrauli and potentially Jabalpur since the raids began late Saturday night. Reports indicate that a CBI team from Jabalpur arrived in Singrauli early Sunday with at least two suspects, who may have been apprehended in Jabalpur just hours before the raids commenced.

The CBI targeted the residence of S. Ojha, Assistant Manager of the NCL CMD, another NCL official working in the security division, and prominent contractor Ravi Singh, who supplies equipment and spares to the coal company. By the end of the day, the CBI had reportedly taken five to six individuals into custody for questioning. There are unconfirmed reports that one of those detained may be a CBI official caught negotiating with the NCL staff and associates during the investigation.
