Maha Vikas Aghadi Seat-Sharing and Congress Strategy
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, comprising Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar, has structured a seat-sharing agreement for 255 constituencies. Each party will contest 85 seats, leaving 23 seats to be allocated according to party-specific candidate lists.
Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole confirmed the seat distribution, with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut reiterating that MVA partners would each contest in 85 seats. The Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held on November 20, with counting scheduled for November 23 across all 288 constituencies.
With Congress’s candidate announcements and the MVA alliance structure solidified, the Maharashtra Assembly race is set to be a high-stakes contest between the MVA and the ruling Mahayuti alliance led by BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction.
