Amit Shah Criticizes Waqf Board Over Alleged Land Grabs, Vows Uniform Civil Code Implementation at Jharkhand Rally

At a rally in Jharkhand’s Baghmara, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Waqf Board, accusing it of seizing land and asserting the need for reform within the body. Shah claimed that the Waqf Board had acquired land from villagers, temples, and farmers, especially in states like Karnataka. “The Waqf Board has a history of grabbing land,” Shah stated, urging voters to support changes in the board’s regulations.

Shah further pledged that the BJP would introduce amendments to the Waqf Act, despite opposition from leaders like Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Congress’s Rahul Gandhi. “Let them oppose it; the BJP will pass the Bill to amend the Waqf Act. No one can stop us,” Shah declared to the crowd.

The Union Home Minister also reiterated his commitment to implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), describing it as essential to “curb infiltration.” He assured that the UCC would exclude tribals from its scope, addressing concerns among tribal communities. “No one can stop the implementation of the UCC,” Shah added, vowing that the BJP would uphold this initiative if it comes to power in Jharkhand.

Additionally, Shah promised that a BJP-led government would transform Jharkhand into one of the country’s most prosperous states, promoting mineral-based industries and reducing migration. He assured voters that any funds misused by the ruling JMM-Congress coalition would be reclaimed and redirected to the state’s treasury.

The rally marked a part of the BJP’s campaign efforts ahead of the upcoming two-phase elections in Jharkhand, set for November 13 and 20, with results to be announced on November 23.
