A unique cricket tournament has begun in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, where professional players are replaced by Vedic scholars and Brahmin youth.

Organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Brahmin Samaj, the tournament is breaking conventional cricket norms by introducing traditional elements.

Traditional Dress Code and Sanskrit Commentary

The players are donning dhoti and kurta instead of the usual cricket attire. The matches commence with Vedic chants, and the commentary is being delivered in Sanskrit, adding a cultural twist to the game.

Key Details of the Tournament

Venue: Ankur Sports Ground, Bhopal.

Dates: January 6 to January 9.

Format: Each match consists of 10 overs.

Participants: 16 teams from cities including Bhopal, Jabalpur, Raisen, Vidisha, and Narsinghpur.

Prizes: The winner receives ₹21,000, while the runner-up gets ₹11,000.

The winning team will also be taken to the Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela for a sacred dip at the Sangam.

Cultural Elements and Enthusiasm

The players are not only showcasing their cricketing skills but are also reciting Vedic mantras while playing. Sanskrit terms have been coined for cricket terminology, such as:

Four: Chatushkam

Six: Shatakham

Bowler: Gendak

Batsman: Vallak

Run Out: Dhavinnashtam

The tournament has garnered widespread enthusiasm from the Brahmin community. Chief Guest invitations have been extended to notable figures, including former Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra.
