National Achievement Survey 2024 to be Conducted on December 4
Comprehensive Assessment of Students’ Skills
Raipur, November 25, 2024 – The National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2024, organized by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), is set to take place nationwide on December 4. This year, the survey is named PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Its primary aim is to assess the overall academic performance of students and establish evaluation benchmarks for their skills.
Focus on Classes 3, 6, and 9
This year’s survey will target students in Classes 3, 6, and 9, focusing on the competencies they have developed in previous grades. The assessment will feature multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be answered on OMR sheets. Besides evaluating students' abilities, the survey will also play a critical role in determining states' rankings in the educational domain.
Opportunity to Improve State Rankings
For states that performed poorly in the NAS 2021 rankings, this survey provides an opportunity to improve their standing. State rankings derived from the survey are often used as benchmarks for implementing various educational policies and initiatives. Consequently, states are making concerted efforts to enhance their performance and strengthen their position in this year’s rankings.
A Step Toward Educational Reform
The primary objective of PARAKH is to evaluate students' academic performance holistically, moving beyond traditional methods of rote learning. It aligns with the NEP 2020’s vision of establishing new standards and guidelines for student assessments. The survey’s competency-based questions are designed to gauge students’ deeper understanding and application of knowledge. Special training sessions are being organized to familiarize students with the OMR sheet format and ensure better preparation.
Impact of the National Education Policy 2020
PARAKH reflects the transformative goals of NEP 2020, emphasizing a shift from conventional education methods to fostering students' holistic development. By analyzing their knowledge comprehensively, this initiative lays the groundwork for creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
Call for Training and Guidance
To ensure the success of the survey, teachers and school administrations are being urged to conduct extensive practice sessions for students. This will not only help enhance students’ skills but also contribute to improving state rankings.
A Milestone for Educational Advancement
The National Achievement Survey 2024 is a significant step toward improving the education system. It aims to evaluate students’ competencies effectively while strengthening the foundation for enhancing the quality of education nationwide. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a robust and inclusive academic framework.
