Concern Grows Over Persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh

Indore, December 1, 2024 – In response to the ongoing persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is set to hold a major protest in Indore on December 4. The protest will be supported by local citizens as well as members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.

The rally aims to highlight the growing violence and discrimination faced by Hindus in Bangladesh, particularly following a change in the country's government, which has seen a rise in attacks on religious minorities. The arrest of Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das 'Brahmachari' in Bangladesh and the denial of his bail by the court has sparked widespread outrage among Hindu religious leaders. In addition, the Bangladesh government has labeled ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) as a religious extremist group, further escalating tensions.

According to Pankaj Pawar, the coordinator of the event, the protest is being organized to condemn the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. He emphasized that the Hindu community is united in its stand against the mistreatment of their fellow believers. On December 4, a large number of people will gather at Lalbagh and march to the District Collector's office to submit a memorandum demanding action. BJP District President Chintu Verma expressed deep concern over the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, noting that the proposed protest would see participation from both urban and rural areas of Indore.

He highlighted that the movement would involve leaders and members of various Hindu organizations, including those affiliated with the RSS. "The treatment of Hindus in Bangladesh is alarming. We must stand in solidarity with them, and it is essential that the global Hindu community raises its voice," Verma said. The protests come amid a series of violent incidents targeting Hindu communities and their places of worship in Bangladesh. Hindu temples have been vandalized, and reports of assaults and even murders are increasing. The growing unrest has ignited a sense of anger among Hindus worldwide, leading to widespread calls for justice.

The protest in Indore is seen as a way for the local community to express solidarity with their persecuted brethren in Bangladesh and to demand international attention to the crisis.
