The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed new board members ahead of the IPL 2025 season. In a key meeting held on January 12 in Mumbai, the BCCI announced its new Secretary and Treasurer.

Devjeet Saikiya has been appointed as the new Secretary, while Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has taken over as the Treasurer of the board.

Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, hailing from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and a former president of the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association (CSCA), has been selected to replace Ashish Shelar in this prestigious position.

This marks a significant milestone for the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association, as it is the first time a representative from the state has been entrusted with such a major responsibility within the BCCI.

Bhatia will hold the position of Treasurer for the next three years, with the possibility to contest elections again after completing his term.

According to BCCI’s regulations, any official's term is limited to three years, with a mandatory cooling-off period of three years before they can be re-elected. Born in 1991 in Raipur, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia is the son of renowned industrialist and philanthropist Baldev Singh Bhatia, who has also served as the president of the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association.

Both father and son have shared a deep passion for cricket, which has led them to elevate the state's cricketing standards. Prabhtej completed his schooling in Shimla before pursuing a degree in Economics with a focus on Finance from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom.

His background and experience in both cricket administration and finance make him well-suited for the role of BCCI Treasurer.
