Permission Required for Transporting Minor Minerals Extracted During Land Reclamation and Pond Construction

Minerals

Jagdalpur, December 5, 2024: Transporting minor minerals such as murum and soil extracted during land reclamation or pond construction must be conducted only after obtaining permission from the Mineral Department, as per official regulations.

Rules for Transporting Minerals

Mineral Officer Shikhar Cherpa highlighted that private landowners often begin transporting these minor minerals after obtaining approval or a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Gram Panchayat. However, this practice without explicit approval from the Collector (Mineral Branch) violates Rule 59 of the Chhattisgarh Minor Mineral Rules, 2015.

Regulations Under Rule 59

The rule mandates that minor minerals excavated from ponds, lakes, wells, reservoirs, or other digging activities require prior approval from the Collector (Mineral Branch).

Applicants must pay advance royalty, District Mineral Foundation (DMF) fees, and other applicable charges before receiving permission for transportation.

Transporting minerals without proper authorization will attract penal action.

Administrative Advisory

The Mineral Department has urged individuals and organizations involved in land improvement and pond construction projects to comply with the established procedures. Violators found transporting minerals without a valid permit will face strict legal consequences, including fines and other penalties.

This directive aims to ensure sustainable and legal utilization of resources while maintaining accountability and transparency in mineral transportation practices.
