Intense Electoral Battle: Two Brothers Face Off in Devbhog Municipality Elections

Intense Electoral Battle

One Contesting for Congress, the Other for BJP in a High-Stakes Political Showdown

Devbhog, January 30 – The upcoming municipal elections in Devbhog, Chhattisgarh, have taken an unexpected and dramatic turn, as two real brothers find themselves in direct competition—one representing the Congress, the other the BJP.

The Congress has fielded the elder brother, Vinod Pande, while the BJP has nominated the younger brother, Munnu Ram Pande, for the Ward 15 (Sonamundi) seat in the newly-formed Devbhog Municipality.

Both candidates have filed their nominations, making this contest one of the most talked-about electoral battles in the region.

First Municipal Elections in Devbhog: A Family Divided by Politics

For the first time, Devbhog has been granted municipality status, and its inaugural elections are already generating high drama. The battle between the Pande brothers has captured district-wide attention, turning Ward 15 into the epicenter of political intrigue. While Munnu Ram (BJP) claims that the Congress deliberately fielded his elder brother against him as a political strategy, Vinod Pande (Congress) insists that his long-standing grievances with the BJP pushed him to switch sides and contest against his own sibling.

BJP Candidate Munnu Ram: ‘This is Just a Political Battle’

Munnu Ram Pande, the younger brother contesting on a BJP ticket, expressed confidence in his party’s decision to nominate him.

🔹 “I have been a dedicated BJP worker, and the party has placed its trust in me. The Congress, in a strategic move, has fielded my elder brother against me, but I trust the people’s support.”

🔹 “This election will not create any personal differences between us. It is simply a political contest,” he added. Congress Candidate Vinod Pande:

‘This is a Fight Against BJP, Not My Brother’

Elder brother Vinod Pande, contesting for the Congress, revealed that he was once a BJP member for over 20 years but left the party due to neglect and lack of recognition.

🔹 “I was never included in BJP meetings or key party activities. Feeling sidelined, I joined the Congress, and they gave me a chance to prove myself.”

🔹 “This is not a battle between two brothers. This is a battle between the ideologies of BJP and Congress.” Political Intrigue & Local Speculation The Pande family, consisting of five brothers, now finds itself divided between two major political parties.

🔹 Some locals believe that rival groups are trying to exploit the situation, creating further tensions within the family.
