Good News for Liquor Enthusiasts: Bar to Open for Passengers at Raipur Airport

Passengers enjoying new bar facility at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur

Raipur Airport

Travelers passing through Chhattisgarh's Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur can look forward to a new amenity – a bar exclusively for passengers. For the first time in the state, an airport will offer a bar, allowing travelers to enjoy drinks and snacks while waiting for their flights. Additionally, those arriving in Raipur will have the option to purchase alcohol at the airport.

To implement this facility, the Commercial Tax (Excise) Department has amended the Chhattisgarh Foreign Liquor Rules, 1996, permitting the issuance of bar licenses at the airport. The annual fee for the bar license is set at ₹12 lakh, available to restaurants that have obtained a No Objection Certificate from the Airport Authority. Alcohol sales will be restricted to within the airport premises.

Rules for Purchase and Consumption

With the bar license come specific guidelines: alcohol consumption will only be allowed within the designated area, and only passengers and airport staff will be permitted to use the bar. Access to this facility will be restricted, excluding non-passengers from entry.
