On Sunday, Tripura police and the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals who had unlawfully entered Indian territory. The arrests were part of a coordinated operation following a tip-off, according to Inspector Paritosh Das, the officer-in-charge of West Agartala police station.

Inspector Das explained that the operation was triggered by intelligence reports regarding the illegal entry of individuals into Lankamura town, located on the outskirts of Agartala. Acting on this information, the police and BSF detained the suspects, who later confirmed their Bangladeshi nationality during questioning. The five individuals, all hailing from Chapai Nawabganj district in Bangladesh's Rajshahi division, are now in custody.

The police plan to present the detainees before the court in Agartala to seek remand for further interrogation. The aim is to uncover and apprehend those involved in facilitating these illegal border crossings. This operation highlights the ongoing challenges in securing the India-Bangladesh border and the continued efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb illegal activities.
