Family Beats Lover in Front of Police Chowki, No Officers Present; Video Goes Viral

Police

In a shocking incident in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, the family of a young woman brutally beat her lover in front of a police chowki (station), where no police officers were present. The entire episode was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, raising serious concerns about security and law enforcement in the area.

The incident took place outside the Jwalanapuri Police Chowki in the Qawarsi police station area on November 28. According to reports, the 28-year-old lover, along with a friend, was strolling near the woman’s house when her family members learned about it.

Upon reaching the spot, the woman's father reportedly snatched the lover's phone and started checking for the woman's contact number. When the young man protested, the family members became enraged and began beating him and his friend.

In an attempt to escape the assault, both the lover and his friend fled toward the nearby police chowki, but were shocked to find no police personnel at the station. The situation quickly escalated, drawing a crowd of onlookers and passersby. Several of them recorded the entire incident on their mobile phones, and the video has been widely shared across social media platforms.

The young man had reportedly met the woman four months ago, and they developed a romantic relationship. As their bond grew, the couple began communicating secretly. However, the woman’s family discovered their relationship and imposed restrictions, forbidding her from continuing the contact. On November 28, when the man was seen near her house again, the family decided to confront him. The altercation drew a significant crowd, with people capturing the scene on their phones.

This viral video has prompted widespread outrage and discussions about safety and security in public spaces. After the incident, the police, despite the location being within their jurisdiction, arrived and took both parties to the nearby police station in Gandhi Park for questioning. However, as of now, the police have not received any formal complaint (tahreer) in the matter.

The primary point of contention appears to be the lover’s phone being checked by the woman’s father. The incident is being treated as a case of a love affair gone awry, with both parties being questioned. The police have stated that action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation and any formal complaint filed. Speaking to the press, Sanjeev Tomar, Circle Officer 2 (CO) of Aligarh, mentioned, “The matter is related to a love affair, and we are investigating both sides. Further action will be taken after receiving a formal complaint.”
