Chhattisgarh Experiences Cold Wave, Temperatures Likely to Drop Further

Raipur, January 18, 2025 – Chhattisgarh continues to grapple with cold winds and plunging temperatures as the winter season tightens its grip. While some areas face biting cold, others are experiencing a severe cold wave.

The Meteorological Department predicts further drops in temperature in the coming days, bringing more chilly conditions to the region.

According to meteorologist H.P. Chandra, the state is expected to witness clear skies today, with a 2°C drop in minimum temperatures likely. Fog is anticipated during the morning hours, adding to the chill.

The cold conditions are set to intensify in the Bastar region, with temperatures expected to dip further until January 19, after which a gradual rise is expected.

Temperature Highlights: Durg recorded the highest maximum temperature on Friday at 30°C. Narayanpur was the coldest place, with a minimum temperature of 9.6°C.

Raipur: The capital city is expected to experience clear skies with light fog. The maximum temperature is forecasted at 29°C, while the minimum could drop to 17°C.

Upcoming Trends

The Meteorological Department forecasts a 2–3°C dip in temperatures across the state over the next three days. Foggy mornings are expected to persist, particularly in low-lying areas, exacerbating the cold conditions.

Residents are advised to take precautions against the chilly weather, especially during early mornings and late nights. The elderly, children, and individuals with health conditions are encouraged to stay warm and avoid prolonged exposure to the cold. As temperatures drop, Chhattisgarh braces for a continued spell of winter's chill, with the hope of milder weather in the days ahead.
