Nine trapped as fort wall collapses due to heavy downpour, rescue efforts launched

A major incident occurred in Datia, Madhya Pradesh, when a wall of the historic Rajgarh Fort collapsed. The incident reportedly happened around 3:30 AM, following heavy rainfall in the area. The continuous downpour over the past few hours caused the fort's dilapidated wall to give way.

The collapse has resulted in over half a dozen people being trapped under the debris. There has been a flurry of activity in the area following the accident, with a rescue operation underway since the incident. The wall, which was already in a state of disrepair, gave way with a loud noise at around 3:30 AM. When residents went outside, they found that the wall had collapsed. On assessing the situation, they discovered that nine people were trapped inside.

With the help of local residents, two individuals were quickly rescued from the rubble and taken to the hospital. Rescue efforts are ongoing for the remaining individuals. Police and SDRF teams arrived at the scene promptly to manage the situation. The disaster management team has so far recovered two bodies from the debris, while efforts continue to rescue five people, including three children, who are still trapped.

The Collector, SP, and several senior officials are present at the site. There has been dissatisfaction among local residents regarding the slow pace of the rescue operations, with accusations of negligence in debris removal. They have protested and called for faster action. The police have managed to calm the situation and continue the rescue work.

The incident at the Rajgarh Fort, a well-known and ancient site, occurred early Thursday morning around 4 AM. The collapse affected nearby houses, trapping several residents under the debris. According to reports, nine people were initially trapped, with two rescued and two confirmed dead. Rescue operations are still in progress, and officials, including Collector Sandeep Makin and SP Virendra Kumar Mishra, are on-site overseeing the efforts.
