Kusum Steel Plant Accident, Video Footage of Rescue Operation Emerges, Watch Here

Kusum Steel Plant

A video footage of the rescue efforts from the devastating accident at Kusum Steel Plant in Ramboad village, Mungeli district, has surfaced. It captures how a trapped worker was pulled out from under the rubble.

The video footage, now viral, shows rescue efforts underway as workers trapped under the debris are being pulled out. Even on the second day after the accident, the process of removing the collapsed silo remains incomplete.

Heavy-duty cranes from Raipur and Bhilai have been deployed to lift the silo, which weighs an estimated 120 tons, including 40 tons of ash.

District officials, including Collector Rahul Dev, SP Bhojraj Patel, and District Panchayat CEO Prabhakar Pandey, are closely monitoring the rescue operation. Teams from NDRF, SDRF, and the district administration are actively working on the site.

Authorities suspect that 4-5 workers may still be trapped under the rubble. Two workers, Awadhesh Kashyap and Jayant Sahu, have been reported missing by the factory management, while one injured worker succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The silo tank, used for heating dust, collapsed at 1:06 PM, creating a chaotic scene. Workers on-site were unable to escape, and many became trapped under the hot ash stored in the silo. The deceased worker has been identified as Manoj Ghritlahare.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his condolences for the tragedy and directed senior officials to prioritize rescue and relief efforts. He assured that all necessary measures are being taken to support the affected workers and their families.
