Criminal having INR 30,000 Bounty Injured in Police Encounter in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh
Chhatarpur, November 18, 2024 — A notorious criminal with a ₹30,000 bounty, Ravindra Singh, was injured in a brief police encounter near Matguwan, Chhatarpur. Ravindra, wanted for attempted murder and multiple crimes, had been on the run for 20 days after firing at police personnel from five different stations.
Details of the Encounter
Acting on a tip-off, a special police team located Ravindra near a warehouse at midnight on Sunday. When cornered, the criminal opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. A bullet fired by the police struck Ravindra in his right leg, embedding itself in the bone. He was immediately taken to the district hospital for treatment.
Chhatarpur SP Agam Jain stated, "Ravindra Singh, a resident of Dheri village under Orchha Road police station, is a habitual offender with 11 cases already registered against him. After his latest crime, we launched an intensive manhunt and received precise information about his location last night. During the encounter, police fired four rounds, one of which injured the accused."
Criminal History
Ravindra gained notoriety after an incident on October 29, 2024, when he fired at a local, Viru Chandel, due to a long-standing feud. Viru had assaulted Ravindra publicly two years ago during a village fair. Seeking revenge, Ravindra fired at him but missed. When police teams from five stations arrived to apprehend him, Ravindra fired three rounds at them and escaped into the jungle, prompting the announcement of the ₹30,000 reward.
Police Action
The encounter was led by Orchha Police Station in-charge Pushpendra Yadav, along with officers Dharmendra Rohit and Deepak Yadav, who played crucial roles in capturing the fugitive.
Medical Update
Dr. Ravi Soni from the district hospital confirmed, "The patient was brought in by the police with a bullet wound in his leg. Treatment is ongoing."
Impact of the Incident
This encounter has once again highlighted the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in dealing with hardened criminals in the region. Ravindra’s apprehension marks a significant victory for the police in curbing criminal activities and ensuring public safety.
Authorities are now investigating his previous crimes and planning legal action against him.
