Action Taken Against Contractor for Payment Discrepancies

Raipur, January 17, 2025: Two officials of the Chhattisgarh Housing Board have been suspended following allegations of irregularities in construction projects.

Acting on the directives of the Housing and Environment Minister OP Choudhary, Executive Engineer CK Thakur and Assistant Engineer Neeraj Thakur have been suspended after irregularities were found in the construction works.

In addition, a notice has been issued to blacklist the contractor, M/s NK Construction, based in Durg. Minister OP Choudhary stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, there will be zero tolerance for any irregularities in quality or administrative functions.

He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in all public works. The irregularities were identified after complaints were received regarding the construction of GAD (Government Assisted Development) housing units in the Bhairamgarh, Bhopalpatnam, and Usur (Awapalli) areas of Bijapur district.

An investigation at the headquarters level revealed delays in the construction and other discrepancies. The inquiry further exposed that M/s NK Construction had been overpaid during the previous administration for work that had not been completed, and payments had been made for tasks that were never performed by the contractor.

Following the findings, Kundan Kumar, Commissioner of the Chhattisgarh Housing Board, issued an immediate suspension order for the concerned officials to ensure transparency and good governance, ensuring that citizens of the state receive quality and timely government housing.
