Major Blow to Naxalism in Narayanpur: 29 Maoists Surrender

"Maaḍ Bachao Abhiyan" Achieves Historic Success as Maoists Choose to Join the Mainstream
Narayanpur, January 30, 2025 – In a major setback for Naxalism, 29 Maoists operating under the Kutul Area Committee in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district have surrendered without weapons. Among them, 22 are male and 7 are female, all of whom were actively involved in various ranks of the Maoist organization.
The surrendered Maoists stated that they now wish to renounce violence and reintegrate into mainstream society to lead a normal life.
Historic Success of the “Maaḍ Bachao Abhiyan”
The "Maaḍ Bachao Abhiyan", a campaign initiated in Narayanpur district, has seen remarkable success as these Maoists decided to break free from the brutal ideology of Naxalism and growing internal conflicts within the group. Disillusioned by the organization’s policies and concerned about their future, they took the decisive step of surrendering.
Impact of Government’s Development Initiatives
The surrendered Maoists acknowledged that they were influenced by the ongoing development projects in Maaḍ and Narayanpur, including the rapid construction of roads and the extension of essential services to remote villages. The expansion of roads, electricity, water supply, and healthcare facilities led them to realize that peace and development offer a better path forward.
Growing Internal Conflicts within the Maoist Organization
During their surrender, the Maoists revealed that their organization had been plagued by corruption, discrimination, and ideological disagreements. External Maoist leaders were exploiting and discriminating against local tribal members, which led to widespread discontent and eroded trust in the movement.
Rehabilitation and Support for Surrendered Maoists
As part of the State Government’s Rehabilitation Policy, the surrendered Maoists have been provided with:
✅ A financial incentive of ₹25,000 each.
✅ Access to government welfare schemes and essential services.
✅ Assurance of housing, employment, and security.

🔹 Jantana Sarkar (People’s Government) leaders and members
🔹 Chetna Natya Mandali (CNM) commanders and members

A Step Towards Development and Peace in Abujhmad
Police officials have expressed optimism that these surrenders will strengthen efforts to establish peace in Abujhmad, further weakening the Maoist organization. Under the leadership of Inspector General (IG) Sundarraj P., Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Amit Tukaram Kamble, Superintendent of Police (SP) Prabhat Kumar, and other senior officers, Narayanpur Police is continuing its Naxal eradication campaign and establishing security camps in remote areas.
"We appeal to all Maoists to abandon the deceptive ideology imposed by outsiders and join mainstream society. The government is committed to providing them with rehabilitation and essential facilities." – Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Narayanpur
