Raipur: Chhattisgarh Assembly’s Winter Session Likely in Mid-December
The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly's winter session is expected to be convened in the second or third week of December. The Department of Parliamentary Affairs has sent a proposal to the government regarding the session, with dates likely to be confirmed within this week. If the session begins on December 9, it will coincide with the Assembly’s Foundation Day celebrations on December 14. This winter session is anticipated to last for five days.
Several key issues are expected to be discussed, including a significant amendment to extend the tenure of urban local bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions by six months. While an ordinance is already in place, the government may introduce a formal amendment bill during this session. Additionally, the state government is expected to present a supplementary budget aimed at bolstering development projects and welfare schemes across the state.
Another important agenda item is the swearing-in of the newly elected MLA from Raipur South, who recently won the by-election and will be formally introduced in the Assembly during this session.
