Karnataka: Man Shoots Wife Over Domestic Dispute, Dies by Poisoning Himself

In a tragic incident in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district, a man fatally shot his wife during a domestic dispute and later consumed poison, leading to his own death.
The incident occurred late Friday night in Sullia Taluk, approximately 85 kilometers from Mangaluru, as confirmed by the police on Saturday.
Details of the Incident
The deceased have been identified as Vinoda (43) and her husband, Ramachandra Gowda alias Chandra (54). According to Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police N. Yathish, the couple had an argument, during which Ramachandra used his licensed revolver to shoot his wife. She succumbed to the injuries on the spot.
Sequence of Events
Police reported that Ramachandra returned home under the influence of alcohol. After lunch, a minor disagreement escalated into a heated argument, first with his parents and then with his wife and son, Prashant. The situation worsened when Ramachandra, in a fit of rage, pointed the revolver at his son.
Vinoda intervened to protect her son, but Ramachandra pulled the trigger, shooting her fatally. Following the incident, he consumed acid used for preparing rubber sheets, which resulted in his death shortly after.
Investigation Underway
Based on a complaint filed by the couple's son, Prashant, a case has been registered at the Sullia police station. Superintendent Yathish stated that an investigation is ongoing to determine further details surrounding the incident. This tragedy highlights the devastating consequences of unresolved domestic conflicts and raises concerns about access to firearms in sensitive situations.
