Gangsters Open Fire on Anant Singh Supporters: Over 60 Rounds Fired in Mokama's Nauranga Village

In a dramatic turn of events on Wednesday evening, supporters of former MLA and strongman Anant Singh came under heavy firing in Nauranga village, Mokama, Bihar.
Gangsters Sonu and Monu, infamous brothers from the region, allegedly fired 60 to 70 rounds during the confrontation.
Anant Singh narrowly escaped unharmed, but one of his supporters sustained a serious gunshot wound to the neck and is currently undergoing treatment.
The Incident
According to reports, residents of Nauranga village approached Anant Singh with complaints that Sonu and Monu had forcibly locked their homes and evicted them.
Responding to their plea, Anant Singh visited the village in the evening and instructed his supporters to break the locks and restore access to the residents. After resolving the matter, Anant Singh suggested informing Sonu and Monu about the development to avoid further incidents.
He stopped his vehicle outside their house and sent two supporters to summon the brothers. However, as soon as his supporters approached, Sonu and Monu opened fire.
In retaliation, more supporters joined to protect the victims, leading to a chaotic gunfight.
Who Are Sonu and Monu?
Sonu and Monu, brothers hailing from Jalalpur village in Mokama, entered the world of crime in 2009. Initially involved in train robberies, they gradually established a reign of fear in the region. Known for holding public "darbars," they allegedly solved grievances with their intimidating influence over local government officials and residents.
The brothers are said to have ties with the Mukhtar Ansari gang and have over a dozen criminal cases registered against them.
Despite their criminal history, their gang remains small compared to Anant Singh's influence. It is also rumored that Sonu and Monu initially operated under Anant Singh's protection but began asserting their dominance after his incarceration.
FIRs Filed
The police have registered multiple FIRs in connection with the incident. Mukesh Kumar, the complainant from the affected party, accused the Sonu-Monu gang of extortion and forcibly locking homes over monetary disputes.
In a counter-complaint, Sonu and Monu's father, advocate Pramod Kumar, filed an FIR against Anant Singh and his supporters, alleging that they fired shots at their home in a politically motivated attack.
Allegations Against Anant Singh
Pramod Kumar further accused Anant Singh of orchestrating a conspiracy to attack his wife, who serves as the local mukhiya (village head). The police have also registered an FIR against public representatives and villagers for allegedly abusing and misbehaving with authorities during the resolution of the house-locking issue.
Political Tensions and Rivalry
The incident has reignited the long-standing rivalry between Anant Singh and the Sonu-Monu gang. While Sonu and Monu's criminal activities have drawn widespread criticism, their growing influence in the region has been a matter of concern for Anant Singh's supporters.
As investigations continue, the focus remains on uncovering the motive behind the attack and bringing the perpetrators to justice. The police are also monitoring the escalating tension between the two factions to prevent further violence.
This high-profile clash has once again highlighted the complex nexus of politics and crime in the Mokama region, where power struggles often turn violent.
Regarding the firing on former MLA Anant Singh, Union Minister Giriraj Singh says, "Whether it's Anant Singh or any ordinary person, everyone has the right to live a normal life. Since shots were fired, I am confident that the Bihar government will work to apprehend the criminals"
