CBI Steps into Chhattisgarh's High-Profile Liquor Scam Case, know more
Raipur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has stepped into the high-profile liquor scam case in Chhattisgarh. The central agency will now probe corruption allegations against Arun Pati Tripathi, an officer of the Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS), accused of being involved in a scam worth billions.
The Chhattisgarh government has granted approval for a CBI investigation into the matter. Tripathi, who was on deputation in Chhattisgarh, served as the Special Secretary in the Excise Department, where he allegedly engaged in large-scale corruption.
Tripathi is already under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He is also accused of involvement in a liquor scam in Jharkhand. Currently in jail, Tripathi had his bail plea rejected by the Chhattisgarh High Court.
This marks the second major case handed over to the CBI by the Bhupesh Baghel-led government after the PSC scam case. The state government has issued a notification formalizing the transfer of the investigation to the central agency.
This development underscores the gravity of the allegations and the government’s intent to ensure a thorough and impartial probe.
