Shahdol Collector Tarun Bhatnagar has said, “It was an inhumane and terrible incident that happened on May 6. Shahdol Police registered the case under the provisions of POCSO and other provisions. NSA action has been taken on 5 accused persons in this matter. All the accused persons have been apprehended and sent to jail.” He was reacting to the NSA action taken against five alleged gang rape accused.
Speaking on this crime, ADGP, Dinesh Chandra Sagar says, “It is an extremely sad incident…A case was registered that a minor girl was raped by some people. The culprits are absconding & the search for them is underway…”
The rape had taken place on Monday evening when the girl was on her way back from coaching class. The crime took place in Kotwali police station limits.
While the accused tried fleeing the spot, the victim managed to register an FIR and police action soon followed.
