Over a crore in cash and silver seized from car, local police arrests three, including one woman

Police in Madhya Pradesh have recovered cash worth around Rs 1.3 crore and four kilograms of silver in Mandsaur.
The official confirmed that cash and jewellery were recovered from a car which was spotted on the national highway on Monday evening.

Speaking on the seizure, Nai Abadi Police Station in-charge Varun Tiwari told ANI, “A car was spotted on the national highway 47 in the evening. There were three passengers, two males and a female…We recovered around Rs 1.3 crore in cash and 4 kg of silver…The investigation is underway…”

The authorities have pointed out that recovery of cash came days ahead of the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 26. The first round of polling for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on Friday itself.

“As the Model Code of Conduct is underway, police have heightened surveillance. A car with Maharashtra number plate was seen on the highway. We got the info about cash being in the car, so police chased it down and recovered around Rs 1.3 crore cash. Additionally, 4 kg of silver has also been recovered,” says Nai Abadi Police Station in-charge Varun Tiwari on seizure of jewellery and cash in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh.
