India formally demands extradition of 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed, Pakistan refuses to confirm

There are speculative reports that India has demanded handing over of fugitive Hafiz Saeed, who is a Pakistani Islamist who co-founded Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistan-based Islamist militant organization that is designated as a terrorist group by the United Nations Security Council.

Sources claim that India (as part of procedure that it does on a regular basis) has formally requested Pakistan to extradite Hafiz Saeed to face charges in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case. India has urged the initiation of the legal process for the extradition of Hafiz Saeed.

It is learnt that the 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed backed political party PMML is set to contest upcoming Pakistan national election. Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed-backed party is to contest all seats in general elections in Pakistan.

“The question is based on speculative reporting and we would not want to comment on such reports”, says Pakistan foreign office spokesperson on reports of India demanding to handover Hafiz Saeed for Pulwama attack.
