Transfer policy for police personnel in naxal areas, Chhattisgarh HM responds
transfer
A policy is being developed for police personnel working in Naxal-affected areas, which will be unveiled soon. Once implemented, employees will no longer need to approach politicians or ministers for transfers. This was stated by Home Minister Vijay Sharma in response to Congress MLA Savitri Mandavi’s inquiry.
Mandavi highlighted that some employees manage to get transferred out of Naxal areas within 2 to 3 years, while others have been working there for over a decade. She emphasized the need for a transfer policy that ensures fair opportunities for all. Mandavi raised several questions regarding the deployment of police personnel in Naxal-affected areas: What are the provisions for their placement in non-Naxal areas? What are the departmental guidelines for such postings? When will these guidelines be issued? What are the housing arrangements for these employees?
In response, state Home Minister Vijay Sharma assured that positions promoted from Sub-Inspector to Inspector are generally posted in Naxal areas for a minimum of 3 years. Additionally, employees under the age of 54 can also be deployed in these regions. Sharma confirmed that after completing 3 years of service in Naxal areas, police personnel are eligible for transfers to other districts.
