Zelenskyy keen on visiting India, says Ukrainian diplomat, amid peace summit speculations

Ukraine's Ambassador Oleksandr Polishchuk announced that President Zelenskyy is invited to visit India by PM Modi, highlighting the potential for enhanced bilateral relations and discussions on global peace. The visit follows a brief visit by PM Modi to Ukraine and coincides with growing calls for a peace summit involving Russia.

Speaking to media in Delhi, Oleksandr Polishchuk, Ambassador of Ukraine to India says, "One of the main outcomes from this visit is that PM Modi kindly invited my President (Zelenskyy) to visit India. I am looking forward that this happens maybe by the end of this year. We will be happy to see President Zelenskyy here. It will be another step forward in our bilateral relationship and it will be a great opportunity for both leaders to spend more time on the discussion about the peace-building process around the world. Unfortunately, the visit of PM Modi to Ukraine was relatively short because of security issues, but here in India, we can have more time. I definitely know that President Zelenskyy is very much keen to visit India...".

The Ukrainian diplomat's revelation comes at a time when there is an increasing pressure of holding yet another peace summit to end the Ukraine conflict. This time, though, Russia will also be urged to join in to make it more relevant. Prime Minister Modi has visited both Moscow and Kiev and has made it clear that he as one of the leaders from global south countries would like to see this conflict end.

On NSA Ajit Doval's visit to Russia, Oleksandr Polishchuk, Ambassador of Ukraine to India opined, "The meeting between two leaders should have some practical implication. I mean on a peace discussion. We are quite happy that before this meeting, India demonstrated their leading role and took place in all of the meetings on the level of the NSA, which has been the preparatory stage for the peace summit, which we held together in Switzerland this year. It is absolutely logical that NSA Doval will travel to the country with whom we need to talk in terms of preparation for the next peace summit. Russia rejected the invitation for the summit, so we should put our common effort to convince them that they need to participate in the summit...We will be very happy if PM Modi finds time to travel to this Summit and personally take part in a discussion because his voice is very much respected in the world...".
