Woman political leader expelled from Kerala Congress, after her controversial remarks
Kerala Congress Leader Expelled Over "Casting Couch" Remarks
Simi Rose Bell John, a former Congress party member in Kerala, has been expelled following her controversial comments alleging that only those close to the leadership receive opportunities, likening the situation to a "casting couch" scenario within the party. The expulsion was announced by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) General Secretary M Liju, who stated that KPCC President K Sudhakaran made the decision due to Simi's remarks, which were seen as defamatory and harmful to the party's women leaders.
According to the KPCC, Simi Rose Bell John's accusations were intended to mentally harass and defame the many women leaders and workers in the Congress, potentially in collaboration with political opponents. The expulsion followed a joint request from several women leaders within the party, including members of the KPCC Political Affairs Committee, KPCC office bearers, and the Mahila Congress State President.
In response to her expulsion, Simi Rose Bell John held a press conference in Kochi, where she criticized Congress Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan, claiming that women with dignity could not work in the party. She challenged the Congress to provide evidence of the allegations against her and denied any conspiracy with the CPIM party. Meanwhile, KPCC President K Sudhakaran dismissed her allegations as baseless and confirmed that the party would investigate the matter following a complaint by the Mahila Congress.
