A young woman fell directly into the Ganga River while taking a selfie on Patna's Gandhi Setu bridge on Wednesday, August 28. Fortunately, SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) personnel stationed at Gai Ghat quickly intervened and rescued her, pulling her from the jaws of death. The woman was immediately sent to NMCH (Nalanda Medical College and Hospital) for treatment after being pulled from the river. She has been identified as Neetu Kumari, a resident of Nalanda.

It is reported that the woman is around 23-24 years old and had come to Patna to take the constable recruitment exam. On Wednesday, she visited Mahatma Gandhi Setu in Patna to roam around and take a selfie. However, it remains unclear how she fell while taking the selfie. She fell from a height of about 15 feet but survived thanks to the timely intervention of the soldiers. If the SSB personnel had been even slightly late or not present, the outcome could have been fatal.

It is said that after the woman fell into the Ganga River, SSB personnel noticed her. Some people present at the scene also saw her and started shouting for help. In response, SSB Sub-Inspector Ajit Kumar Jadeja, along with some soldiers, immediately set out in a boat to rescue the woman. As the team approached her, one soldier reassured her by saying, "We are here... we are here."

When the SSB personnel arrived to rescue her, one of the soldiers recorded the incident on video. The video shows the woman being swept away by the strong current, and a soldier jumping into the river with a rope to save her. He then brought her back to the boat. However, she lost consciousness upon reaching the boat. Sub-Inspector Ajit Kumar Jadeja, who is from Gujarat and currently stationed at Gai Ghat in Patna, stated that upon seeing the woman fall, he and his team immediately set out to rescue her. The woman has been sent to NMCH for treatment.
