With second term in White House, Trump joins Grover Cleveland, in winning nonconsecutive stints

Former President Donald Trump is projected to secure a historic second term nearly four years after his departure from Washington, according to Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ). DDHQ announced Trump as the projected winner after he claimed Pennsylvania and Alaska, reaching the critical 270 electoral votes required for victory.

In a fiercely contested election marked by unexpected events, Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris, overcoming significant challenges, including a criminal trial during his campaign, two assassination attempts, and a late change in the Democratic ticket following President Biden’s withdrawal from the race.

Trump now joins Grover Cleveland as the only other president in U.S. history to win nonconsecutive terms, with Cleveland achieving this over 120 years ago in 1892. Trump’s victory followed a tightly contested 100-day campaign sprint across seven key battleground states, where polls remained exceptionally close until Election Day.
