Speaking in Delhi with the media, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal claimed, “We will win Raebareli with a great majority and we will certainly bring back Amethi. Both the seats will be Congress’…The ground reports are very clear…We are going to reduce BJP’s number very drastically in Uttar Pradesh. We are going to get a minimum of half of the seats in Uttar Pradesh.”
Congress claims comes amid the criticism that party leader Rahul Gandhi should have contested from Amethi, his old held seat, which is now held by Union Minister Smriti Irani.
Instead a party and family loyalist has been fielded which the experts are describing to be a near walkover for Smriti Irani.
