A horrifying incident has emerged from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, where a woman was gang-raped in front of her husband by a group of six men while they were on an outing. The couple was visiting the hills in the Gudh police station area on October 21 when the assailants, who were having a party nearby, attacked them. The woman’s husband was threatened and beaten while the attackers took turns assaulting her. The couple managed to escape and reported the incident to the police the following day.

The police, however, delayed bringing the case to light, allegedly due to a regional industry conclave in Rewa on October 23, attended by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, several ministers, and prominent industrialists. Despite the severity of the crime, the police withheld the report for two days to avoid tarnishing their reputation ahead of the event.

The couple had been sitting near a stream in the Bhairav Baba hill area when the attackers approached. After assaulting the husband, two of the assailants dragged his wife away and raped her. When the husband tried to intervene, he was beaten, and the perpetrators filmed the attack to further intimidate the couple. The ordeal lasted over an hour before the couple managed to flee and file a complaint with the Gudh police station on October 22.

Investigators have since visited the crime scene, collected evidence, and launched a search of the surrounding area. Although the police have yet to identify the attackers, several suspects have been rounded up for questioning, with further efforts underway to confirm their involvement. Medical examinations have been conducted on the victim, and authorities are hopeful of making arrests soon.

This brutal incident has raised questions about the police's delay in addressing the crime, particularly in the face of an important public event. Authorities are now under pressure to bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly.
