Wife Cheats Husband of Rs 80 Lakhs, Flees with Brother, in Chhattisgarh

Wife

In a bizarre and shocking case of fraud from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, a wife has been accused of cheating her husband out of Rs 80 lakhs. The case, which dates back five years, has only recently been registered by the Supela police station following a court order.

The victim, Natraj Mudaliyar, a former senior technician at BSP, retired on August 31, 2019. Upon retirement, he received a sum of Rs 80 lakh, which he deposited into a joint account with his wife, Rajkumari Mudaliyar (also known as Meena), at the Bank of India in Supela.

However, his wife, in collusion with her brother, Govind Swami, allegedly transferred the entire amount without his knowledge, investing the money elsewhere.

According to CSP Satya Prakash Tiwari, the joint account allowed Rajkumari to sign the cheque, enabling her to move the money into various other investments. Natraj discovered the fraud when he visited the bank nine days later, intending to transfer some funds to his mother's account.

To his shock, he found that the balance in his account was zero. Upon investigation, he learned that his wife and brother-in-law had transferred the entire Rs 80 lakh without informing him. Adding to the confusion, Natraj was not notified by the bank regarding the transfer of funds, raising concerns about the bank manager's role in the matter.

After absconding with the money, Rajkumari and her brother fled to Chennai, making it difficult for Natraj to trace them. The case had been pending in court, but a recent court order directed the police to file an FIR. Following this, Supela police registered a case against Rajkumari, her brother Govind Swami, and the bank manager under sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.

Investigations are ongoing as the authorities work to track down the accused individuals.
