Due to continuous rainfall, 72,000 cusecs of water have been released from the Mongra Dam into the Shivnath River in Rajnandgaon district, causing the water level in the river to rise. If the rain continues, additional water releases from Mongra Dam may occur. The ongoing rainfall and the water release from Mongra Dam have resulted in the Shivnath River overflowing Mahamra Anicut.

Given the current water levels in the Tandula River, Kharkhara River, and other tributaries of the Shivnath River, authorities have advised residents to remain cautious. In light of the rising water levels, the district administration has issued a warning for all villages along the Shivnath River in Bemetra district to stay alert. With 537 mm of rainfall recorded so far, further increases in reservoir levels are anticipated if the rainfall persists.
