In Kanker, in the village of Vivekanandnagar of Koylibeda block, the rurals have been facing issues after consuming prasad from a religious ceremony. On June 1, a Satyanarayan Puja was held in the village, during which prasadam called "sinni" was made using raw cow's milk. However, the milk came from two cows that had been bitten by a rabid dog in the village.

Approximately 90 days after the puja, both cows died, and their owner secretly received rabies vaccinations. As news of the situation spread throughout the village, villagers grew concerned about the possibility of rabies infection from consuming the prasadam made from the infected cows' milk. They reported the incident to health authorities, requesting a rabies vaccination campaign.

In response, a health department team was sent to Vivekanandnagar to conduct vaccinations. To date, more than 150 villagers have been vaccinated against rabies. Additionally, the health department is investigating the history of all individuals who attended the Satyanarayan Puja.
