Vehicle labeled with 'police' sticker, barges into reserved lane, Kanwariyas react furiously

In Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh, on the second Monday of Sawan, a violent incident involving Kanwariyas (devotees participating in the Kanwar Yatra) took place. The Kanwariyas became furious when a vehicle, marked with police stickers and equipped with a siren, entered the reserved lane designated for their pilgrimage. They attacked the vehicle with sticks and rods, overturning and severely damaging it.
This incident occurred in the Madhuban Bapudham police station area, where a group of eight to ten Kanwariyas vandalized the vehicle marked "POLICE" in the presence of hundreds of fellow devotees. The vehicle, which entered the reserved lane for the Kanwariyas, provoked their anger, leading to significant damage. Despite the police stickers and siren on the vehicle, the police clarified that it was a private vehicle and not an official police car.
A police officer provided details of the incident, stating that around 10:15 AM near Duhai Metro Station on the Delhi-Meerut Road, the vehicle, driven by Avneesh Tyagi, collided with a Kanwariya, triggering the violent reaction from the devotees. Police arrived promptly to calm the situation and have taken the driver and the vehicle into custody for further investigation.
