In Uttarakhand, relief and rescue work is underway on war footing in Silkyara Tunnel located on Uttarkashi-Yamnotri road. Quite a number of labourers and few others have been trapped inside the tunnel since Sunday morning due to a part of the tunnel breaking and debris falling.
On Uttarkashi Tunnel accident, Prashant Kumar, Circle Officer of Uttarkashi says, “40 people are trapped inside the tunnel. All are safe, we have provided oxygen and water to them…” “The present situation is, that yesterday we established communication with the people trapped inside the tunnel. We have moved around 15 mtrs inside the tunnel, and around 35 mtrs are still to be covered. Everyone is safe, we have provided oxygen and water to them. We are making our way sideways to go inside the tunnel. After establishing communication, around 40 people are trapped inside…”
Dozens of people got trapped after a part of the tunnel under construction from Silkyara to Dandalgaon in Uttarkashi, collapsed. The SDRF as well as police and local administration rushed to spot for relief work.
