Uttarakhand is all set to implement the Uniform Civil Code and would become the first state in the country to do so.
It is likely that ban on polygamy and registration for live-in relationships are likely to be among draft rules for Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand.
This after the committee formed under the leadership of Justice (retd) Ranjana Desai would submit a report to CM Pushkar Singh Dhami in the next few days.
Sources say that Uttarakhand government is contemplating convening a special session of Legislative Assembly, possibly a week after Diwali and this is when the Uniform Civil Code bill will be passed.
