Under pressure after bus robbery, police arrests four with arms, motorbikes
In a dramatic turn of events in Saraipali, Mahasamund district, Chhattisgarh, police have successfully dismantled a gang involved in a cinematic-style bus robbery. Four suspects were arrested following a joint operation by the Cyber Cell and Saraiyapali police. Authorities recovered two firearms, 17 cartridges, two motorcycles, a mobile phone, and ₹7,200 in cash from the accused.
The incident unfolded on September 12, 2024, when a passenger on a bus traveling from Raipur to Bargarh reported a robbery at Saraipali police station. The passenger recounted that, upon reaching Jhilimila Road near Tadiya Mill, four individuals on two motorcycles blocked the bus. They forced the passenger off the bus and, after attacking him with a firearm, stole ₹12,000 and a Samsung mobile phone.
Upon receiving the complaint, police launched a swift investigation. A tip-off led them to the suspects, who were reportedly planning another heist near Jhilimila Mandeep Dhaba. Police promptly apprehended the suspects—Karan Behera, Sonu Paswan, Bablu (also known as Mohsin Khan), and Bittu (also known as Mohammad Hussain).
During questioning, the suspects confessed to the robbery. Authorities seized two 315-bore firearms worth ₹50,000, 17 cartridges valued at ₹8,500, two motorcycles worth ₹1,50,000, a mobile phone valued at ₹12,000, and ₹7,200 in cash. The suspects have been charged under Sections 309(6)BNS and 25,27 of the Arms Act and have been sent to judicial remand.
