Two Trainee Pilots Killed, Two Injured in Drunk Driving Accident in Pune District

Pune, Maharashtra – A tragic accident on the Baramati-Bhigwan Road near Jainikwadi village has claimed the lives of two trainee pilots and left two others seriously injured.The incident, which occurred in the early hours of December 9, is believed to have been caused by drunk driving.

According to Pune Rural Police, the four individuals were trainee pilots enrolled at a private aviation academy in Baramati. Initial investigations suggest that the group had consumed alcohol during a small party before setting out for a drive.

As they were speeding towards Bhigwan around 3:30 AM, the driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating a sharp bend, causing the car to crash into a tree and subsequently get stuck in a nearby concrete pipeline. The impact of the collision was devastating.

Two of the trainees, Takshu Sharma and Aditya Kanase, both aged 21, were killed instantly. Krishna Singh, the driver, and Cheshta Bishnoi, another occupant of the car, sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sudarshan Rathord from the Baramati division confirmed the details, stating, “The vehicle was speeding, and the driver lost control. They had consumed liquor earlier and decided to go for a drive. The crash was so severe that the car was wedged against a pipeline after hitting the tree.” The Baramati Rural Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Authorities are working to determine if any additional factors contributed to the crash and are expected to release further details in the coming days.
