Two lakh for two wives, Congress leader under fire as BJP demands ECI action

While addressing a public rally, Congress candidate from Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam, Kantilal Bhuria announced to the gathering, “…After the Congress govt comes to power, what we have written in our constitution, Rs 1 lakh will be debited in the account of every woman, and those who have 2 wives will be getting Rs 2 lakhs…”.

The fact that the leader went ahead to promise Rs 2 lakhs for men with two wives, has drawn widespread criticism. Main rival BJP has not lost the opportunity and mounted scathing criticism of the Congress politician.

The saffron party has also demanded action against Bhuria for his statement during public gathering. Congress in its manifesto has promised Rs 8500 to poor women till they get uplifted from Below Poverty Line segment.
