Earlier, he said that United States will compete vigorously, and responsibly, with the People’s Republic of China. “We will protect our national security interests. We will stand up for our values. And we will work together where it is possible and in our interests”, he added.

In another important announcement, he announced “after years, the People’s Republic of China and the United States are restarting cooperation on counternarcotics. In particular, we seek to reduce the flow of precursor chemicals and pill presses fueling the fentanyl crisis”.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, meanwhile, added that ”the leaders further explored the correct way for the two countries to coexist, clearly defined the responsibilities shared by China and the US as major powers, and formed the San Francisco Vision for the future. The event has pointed out the direction and planned the blueprint for the healthy, stable and sustainable development of bilateral relations and it is a positive, comprehensive and constructive meeting with strategic significance and far-reaching impact. It is a major event in today’s international relations and will also become a milestone in the history of China-US relations”.
