At least two persons are rescued from the rubble after a three-storey building collapsed in Navi Mumbai's Shahbaz village on morning of July 27. Maharashtra Police, fire brigade and National Disaster Response Force team carried out the rescue operation. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner said the building collapsed around 5 am in the morning.

Kailas Shinde, Commissioner of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, reported that a building in Shahbaz village collapsed around 5 a.m. today. The structure, a G+3 building, housed 13 flats and is located in the Belapur ward. Two people have been rescued and are in stable condition at a hospital, while two others are believed to be trapped. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are on-site conducting rescue operations.

Shinde indicated that the building, which is 10 years old, will be investigated, and action will be taken against the building’s owner.

This incident follows another recent collapse on July 20, when a portion of a balcony of a four-storey residential building in south Mumbai fell, killing an 80-year-old woman and injuring four others.

The police, fire brigade, and NDRF are actively involved in the rescue efforts. The continuous heavy rainfall in Maharashtra has exacerbated the situation, causing widespread disruption in Mumbai's public transport services.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Madhya Maharashtra on July 28.
